Electricity and Electronics

The group of basic electronics and communications training systems exposes students to many important aspects of modern electrical, electronic and communications components and circuits. The training systems are specifically designed to afford a modular approach to meet the requirements of a wide variety of curricula.

The training systems cover the following topics:

• Voltage, current and resistance
• Combinatorial logic
• Measuring voltage and current with a digital multimeter (DMM)
• Power in electric circuits
• Switches and relays
• Direct current and alternating current
• Measuring with an oscilloscope
• Diode, rectifier and transistor
• Binary numbers and digital logic
• Truth tables
• Logic gates: AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR
• Combinatorial logic
• Flip flops, shift registers and ring counters
• Audio amplifier: linearity and noise
• Human ear hearing response: hearing threshold, relative loudness, frequency range
• Digitizing speech
• AM radio transmitter and receiver
• Fiber optic transmission
